The spice is the dried fruit of the Chinese ash, which bursts during ripening, leaving pods. Small kernels located inside them have a bitter aftertaste, so they are removed so as not to spoil the finished spice. Boxes have different colors: from reddish-brown to bright green or gray. Their interior is usually yellow.

Taste properties
This variety of pepper has light citrus notes with a hint of pink grapefruit. In fact, it is a berry that looks like a pepper.
