Culinary dossier:
Pink pepper is a spice obtained from the fruits of the Brazilian (Peruvian) pepper tree. Ripe fruits of this tree are small red berries that turn pink after drying. These berries are similar in shape and light spicy-sweet taste to real pepper. The smell of the spice is worthy of the best aromatic oils and perfumes: it is delicate, warm, slightly dry, with notes of resin, anise, ginger, menthol, citrus, raisins and juniper.

Pink pepper is used both in dried and pickled form. Dried berries are best stored whole (and no longer than six months). They should be ground immediately before use, having previously heated the peas in a dry frying pan, so that the aroma of the spice becomes even more refined and brighter.

Pink pepper is an ideal spice for tender, delicate and light dishes. They season veal, milk pig meat, white chicken meat, ducks, turkeys, salmon fillets and other high-quality fish, fruit soups and desserts, ice cream, sherbets, cocktails, compotes, alcoholic beverages. The spice is also good in salad sauces, marinades and pickles.

Pink pepper is recommended to be added to dishes before serving. It is also used in cooking and for decorative purposes. Whole berries of dried pepper serve as decoration when serving various dishes.

Pink pepper goes well with "relatives": black, white and green pepper. Sometimes pink (red) pepper is called another spice obtained from the ripe fruits of black pepper.

Medicinal use:

Pink pepper is used to treat rheumatism, gout, arthritis, diseases of the respiratory and digestive systems, tumors, diarrhea, and skin diseases. Also, the spice has a tonic and astringent effect, improves blood circulation, promotes rapid healing of wounds and ulcers.

In cosmetology, pink pepper oil is used in anti-cellulite programs, procedures to increase the elasticity of the skin of the body.

It is not recommended to combine treatment with this spice with homeopathic treatment. In large quantities, pink pepper becomes toxic and can cause allergies or respiratory disorders.

Alchemy of love:
Pink pepper is a mild, feminine aphrodisiac. It simultaneously tones and relaxes, relieves tension and fatigue. And its delicate aroma and taste subtly tune a woman's heart to a love wave.

Interesting fact:
In good old England, pink pepper is called English Christmasberry, that is, a Christmas berry. Residents of foggy Albion use pink pepper not only as a spice for everyday and festive dishes, but also as a decorative plant. On Christmas Eve, the English decorate their homes with green garlands of pink pepper berries, which have a bright red color, and many gentlemen in honor of the holiday pin a brush of spicy berries to the brim of their hats.
