Shatavary is translated as "having a hundred husbands" (the tonic and rejuvenating effect of Shatavary on a woman makes it possible to have "a hundred husbands"). Asparagus racemosus is the primary rejuvenating herb for women, as is Ashwagandha for men (although both drugs work on both sexes). Shatavari is an excellent rasayana for Pita dosha, for the female reproductive system.
In cosmetology it is used as masks, water and oil decoctions.
Method of use:
- Dilute the powder with bitter water to the state of gruel, cool and apply the mask for 10-15 minutes. Then rinse with warm water.
- For problem skin: bring to a boil in sesame or olive oil (to make a slurry), cool and apply to the skin as a mask for 10-15 minutes. Then rinse with warm water.
- To restore the breast after childbirth: brew Shatavari with boiling water 1 tsp. per 100 ml of water, strain and mix the broth from Shatavar with natural ghee. Do a light breast massage once a day for 5 minutes. Then rinse with warm water.
Intensifies the production of breast milk, normalizes the monthly cycle, increases the ability of eggs to fertilize, prevents the development of fibroids and mastopathy. Shatavara has an excellent emollient effect on the mucous membranes of the stomach, lungs, kidneys, genitals, it is effective for stomach ulcers.
Shatavara decoction with ghee is used by women in Ayurveda to restore breasts after childbirth. Alleviates thirst, promotes fluid retention in the body, is indicated for diarrhea, dysentery. It is used externally for joint stiffness and muscle spasms.

Indications for use: Universal Rasayana (strengthening and rejuvenating drug), which can be taken with any constitution, at any age, for both women and men. Charaka defined Shatavaras as Balya (strengthening or tonic), Vaya sthapana (increasing life span), Shukra janaana (helping to increase sperm count). Improves spermatogenesis. Aphrodisiac Being an anabolic agent for the uterus, it treats hypoplasia of the uterus and enhances lactation. Treats dysmenorrhea and menorrhagia, increases the ability to conceive and bear (especially in the form of Phala Ghrita). Improves skin color and relieves skin irritation. It has an anti-carcinogenic effect and is successfully used in the treatment of bleeding from the rectum (e.g., with diarrhea and dysentery), with hemorrhoids and increased blood sugar. An effective remedy for the treatment of gastric and duodenal ulcers along with increased acidity. An effective sedative for dry and inflamed lining of the lungs, stomach, kidneys and genitals. Shatavari is an excellent remedy for the nervous system and is used for weakness in epilepsy and hysteria. In case of edema due to heart failure, Shatavar has a good effect on the heart, reduces swelling and increases hemoglobin (in the form of Shatavar Siddha Ghrita). It is a diuretic, therefore, useful for urolithiasis and dysuria. When taken for a long time, it improves visual acuity. It is very useful for Vata and Vata-Pitta diseases with massage oil. Contraindications: Weak digestive fire (Mandagna), a large amount of Ama (toxins), excessive mucus, high Kapha, fungal (yeast) infections, fibrocystic mastopathy, problems caused by an excess of estrogen, acute lung congestion. Long-term use is contraindicated for patients with chronic cough.
