This plant is a small shrub-tree that grows in the warm, dry plains of central India.
Shikakai literally means "fruits for hair" and has traditionally been used as a natural 100% natural shampoo in India for many centuries due to its beneficial and healing properties laid down by nature itself.
Acacia Shikakai pods are one of the main components of Indian cosmetics and are widely used as an effective natural medicine. for strengthening hair bulbs, eliminating dandruff and other cosmetic and skin diseases, as well as for accelerating hair growth and increasing hair density, as a general conditioner for all types of hair, and an excellent skin moisturizer (acacia fruits do not disturb the natural water and fat balance of the skin, moreover, they moisturize and nourish the skin, promoting natural regeneration).
One of the most amazing properties of these fruits - this is the activation of the body's thermoregulation, thanks to which the body is cooled, especially in the summer months, it helps to keep the body cool and preserves the natural moisture of the skin. Acacia pods are traditionally used for washing hair and bathing be ground into powder and, when added with water, form a paste that can be applied to the skin of the face as a nourishing mask (rejuvenating effect and smoothing out wrinkles) or to clean hair, if it is necessary to strengthen it (wash it off after 2 hours). The saponin in the water is not necessary.
The saponins contained in the pods are natural cleansers and function without tightening the skin and removing the natural protective layer from it antiallergenic, they are perfect for small children, people with increased skin sensitivity, treat various skin diseases. To enhance the cleansing properties (adding a percentage of saponin), soap beans can be used in combination with soap nuts, without losing their softening properties. infections, and is a natural mild insecticide - with regular use, it prevents infection by lice, ticks, etc. This ancient product, which was used many centuries ago and is used now, is the only universally recognized completely natural, 100% ecological, natural pH-balanced shampoo, which has a beneficial effect not only on the skin and hair, but and not polluting the environment.

Natural gentle soap - Saptala
Saptala is the traditional name of natural soap made from soap beans, suitable for all types of skin, nourishing it and normalizing the water-oil balance. with increased skin sensitivity or skin diseases. When in direct contact with the skin, they have a mild anti-inflammatory and bactericidal effect, while healing the skin and cleaning the pores. Unlike ordinary soap, they do not contain alkali, so they do not dry and degrease the skin, which is especially important for children's skin 100% natural soap, completely decomposes in the environment. The saponin contained in the acacia pods is much less than in the acacia pods, but the acacia pods contain much more nutrients that soften and restore the skin. opens pores, promotes the restoration of the skin's natural fat balance, nourishing dry and oily skin. Preparation of Saptala - natural nourishing soap from soap beans: 1 method: put 25 grams of crushed acacia pods (for example, in a coffee grinder) in a cloth bag and pour a glass of boiling water (200-250 ml.), infuse for an hour, then squeeze the bag well in water so that as much of the substance as possible is released into the water, then squeeze the bag and pour the solution into a separate container, and this squeezed bag is again poured with boiling water (100-200 ml.), infuse for half an hour, squeeze the bag well and drain the solution again use the obtained very concentrated solution of a saturated red-brown color as natural liquid soap.2 method: put any convenient amount of whole acacia pods (you can break them for convenience), tie the bag tightly, put it in some convenient container (for example, a bowl) and pour boiling water or just hot water, leave it for about half an hour, the bag crushed until the desired concentration of the solution is obtained), wring it out and hang it on a clothesline or put it on the battery to dry. In this case, the beans are not consumed completely at once, if a fresh solution is needed, the bag with already dry beans is again filled with boiling water or hot water, and a solution of the required concentration is obtained again, then the bag can be dried again. This can be done several times, until almost all substances from the beans pass into the water and the water stops being saturated with a brown color and stops being soapy.
The solution obtained by the first or second method (the main difference is in concentration) can be used when bathing instead of liquid soap, when washing hair instead of shampoo (it nourishes the hair - from the roots to the very tips, restoring life and elasticity to it, eliminates hair brittleness, nourishes the scalp, strengthens the hair, significantly reducing its loss, adds volume to the hair), as a hair conditioner (makes combing easier, prevents tangling of hair), for washing the face and other parts of the body with problematic skin, for removing inflammatory processes.
Bathing
Just like bathing with soap nuts - bathing with soap beans - absolutely natural and very pleasant! Instead of ordinary alkaline soap, you can bathe with natural and nutritious soap that grows directly on trees! :) Such natural bathing is very beneficial for health, because does not break (does not wash off) the protective layer from the surface of the skin. Studies show that this protective layer (also called the acid mantle), which covers the surface of the skin with a thin film and consists of the fat of the sebaceous glands and particles of viscous substances that bind individual horny cells, can be considered as the skin's own cream. The protective acid mantle is slightly acidic compared to the alkaline environment, i.e. is a chemical environment in which bacteria and fungi usually die. Thus, the human body is protected by the property of the skin, it remains only to not violate the natural mechanisms embedded in our body.Unfortunately, most people do not know this and violate this natural protection every day, even every hour, using industrial alkaline soap for washing hands and, even worse, for bathing. Such soap, whether it is children's or elite (with the addition of oils, etc.), literally tears off the protective fat layer from the surface of the skin (it is this penetration into the horny layer of the epidermis and tearing off the protective mantle that ensures cleanliness in the modern sense - this is the principle of action of any alkaline soap), at the same time making the skin very vulnerable to various infections, harmful bacteria, viruses.
It has been proven that in the first 10 hours after bathing with soap, a person is most susceptible to the attack of various infections, this super-invulnerability lasts from 24 to 48 hours after washing off the protective fatty antibacterial layer from the skin. It takes time before it recovers, before it forms the necessary fat layer on the surface again, which will protect the person until it is washed off the skin again by alkalis. Soap beans (as well as soap nuts) do not contain alkalis at all, they do not injure the skin when washed, they only wash away excess fat and sweat, not penetrating, like alkalis, inside each layer and not splitting the dense surface protective layer of the skin. In addition, soap beans have a natural low pH, the same as human skin. Thus, there is only gentle cleansing of the skin from contamination, no exhaustion or overdrying, all the protective properties of the skin are preserved. Such a gentle bathing with soap beans (and soap nuts) is especially useful for small children, so that the skin fat balance in the child's body is not disturbed from birth and the protective layer that is so important and necessary in the child's life, protecting it from various environmental influences, is not washed away.
Soap beans contain several times more vitamin C than grapefruit, vitamins A, D, E and K, which promote healthy hair growth, as well as a lot of nutrients that have a beneficial effect on the skin, restoring its natural velvety and tenderness. All you have to do is stop using ordinary alkaline soap when bathing and washing your hands and switch to natural soap made from shikakai acacia pods with the addition of soap nuts - and you will immediately forget about any creams and other products that artificially support the skin's water-fat balance. After a week, the skin will be completely restored and will be soft and tender, like a child's.
When bathing, you can wet a washcloth in a pre-prepared liquid solution of Saptala, or instead of a washcloth, you can use a fabric bag with already soaked beans inside, you will get a very pleasant aromatic (beans smell very nice) natural washcloth.
Washing and strengthening hair
Instead of various shampoos and harmful components that are currently used in their composition, you can use acacia shikakai pods - natural aromatic soft soap - Saptala (for oily hair with added soap nuts) to wash your hair, using natural natural resources, restoring your health and ecology. With regular washing of hair with soap (aqueous infusion of soap beans), dandruff completely disappears (antifungal properties), hair noticeably revives, stops being brittle, volume and healthy shine are added, hair loss stops, skin fat balance is restored, due to which oily hair becomes normal (sebaceous glands begin to work less intensively), and dry hair receives very high-quality nutrition and stops being brittle, restoring its natural image In the use of natural remedies, there is usually no one recipe for everyone, because each person has an individual fat balance, as well as many different individual characteristics, so the plant acts on each specific person at least a little, but still individually, because plants are not chemistry, the action of which has a strictly defined character. gentle cleanser, ideal for both adults and delicate children's skin.
Saptala, like soap nuts, cleans according to a completely different principle than any shampoos, without washing off the protective layer from the scalp, without drying the hair, brushing it to the very ends, so each person must first wash his head several times, choosing the necessary concentration of the solution for himself individually. Not very oily hair can be washed simply with Saptala solution, without repeated washing, oily hair is best washed immediately with Saptala solution with the addition of soap nuts, and possibly washed several times. Try and choose for yourself an individual recipe that seems most convenient to you.
Preparation of solution for washing hair:
Grind acacia pods, break them a little, put them in a bag of about 25 grams, together with acacia in the same bag you can put 5-7 slightly crushed soap nuts (if hair is oily, it is desirable to add soap nuts for better washing, because the content of saponin in soap nuts is 3-4 times more than in acacia, there are a lot of nutrients in acacia, therefore it is not advisable to increase the amount of acacia for better washability, consumption will be much more economical if you add a few soap nuts to the pods of acacia). Place the bag in a convenient container (for example, a bowl), pour boiling water (amount of water at discretion, approximately - 0.5 liters) and leave to infuse for 15-20 minutes. You can also pour cold water - the beans will dissolve in any case, become soft and saturate the water with nutrients, but the hotter the water, the less time it will take. Beans will be soaked in cool water for 3-4 hours.
While soaking, the bags can be slightly crushed with your hands (squeezed) to accelerate the transfer of more substances into the water.
It is possible to use acacia little by little, but completely. To do this, you need to grind beans (and soap nuts, if necessary), then pour a little powder into a bag, pour boiling water or hot water. So all the saponin and nutrients of acacia will come out completely at once, and they will almost not be released the second time.
Then you can wash your hair with the resulting soapy solution in approximately the same way as with a solution of soap nuts.
Washing hair:
Apply a solution of Saptal to wet hair, massaging the scalp with your fingertips. Then rinse the solution with warm water (it is not recommended to rinse with cold water due to the poor solubility of fat in cold temperatures). If the hair creaks or barely noticeable foaming appears during washing, then this is a sign that the hair is already clean and there is no need to repeat the procedure. If there was no foam, then it is necessary to apply the solution to the hair again, massaging the scalp, then rinse again with warm water. It is very important to rinse the hair completely, repeating the application of the solution until the hair is clean.
Beans act on hair not only as a shampoo, but also as a balm (it cares for hair roots, hair). Therefore, it will be better if you apply the solution to your hair and hold it for some time (10-15 minutes), and only then wash it off.
After the infusion from the container is poured onto your hair, immediately fill the bag with water again, and, kneading it, you will get a soapy solution again. This can be done many times, until the hair is completely washed. After this, squeeze the bag and put it together with the pods on the battery or hang it to dry. Saponins from acacia can be completely or almost completely released after the first hair wash, but tannins come out very gradually, therefore, when re-steaming dried beans with boiling water, it is advisable to add a few soap nuts to the bag to achieve a better washing effect.
If you want to spend a smaller amount of saptala solution in one wash, then it is best to wash your hair in some container.
Pour warm water into the container and, dipping a bag of beans in the water, make a solution of the required concentration (it is best to add soap nuts to the bag of beans to increase the concentration of the detergent in the water - saponin).
Immerse the hair part of the head in water, then massage the scalp and hair with your hands until the hair is completely washed.
After that, rinse the hair with warm water. This is the end of hair washing.
The general rule for washing hair with soap nuts and shikakai beans is to observe caution, try not to allow the solution of soap nuts to get into the eyes, in case of contact, rinse the eyes immediately with plenty of water.
The saponin contained in soap nuts and beans irritates the mucous membranes, causing them to work more intensively. Pain sensations when the solution gets into the eyes are stronger, the greater the content of saponin in the solution.
All the same, when the solution is weak enough and the impact is not strong, it is a good prevention of infections and infected mucous membranes, for example, conjunctivitis, etc.
Balm-rinse for hair
After washing the hair with ordinary shampoos, there is often a desire to nourish and strengthen the hair a little, to give it additional life-giving energy. There are many simple and effective natural balms, for example, bee honey has a beneficial effect on healthy hair growth and scalp nutrition, rinsing with nettle infusion also strengthens hair.Infusion of soap beans is a very effective strengthening agent, which also eliminates dandruff and normalizes the water and fat balance of the scalp. Soap beans are recognized all over the world as a real natural conditioner thanks to their unique softening and moisturizing properties, beneficial effect on hair. It is enough to moisten clean hair with a solution of soap beans and hold this solution for 10-20 minutes on the hair, so that it revives and becomes incredibly silky and soft, acquires volume - this will all be visible after the first such rinse. With regular use, dandruff will completely disappear, and the hair can be washed less often due to the partial restoration of the natural fat balance (full restoration is possible only if chemical shampoos are completely replaced with natural hair washing products). Due to the naturally low pH, soap beans effectively and quickly cope with the task, restoring natural processes in the hair part of the scalp.
Hair after such a procedure acquires vital energy, is easily combed, dry ends will surprise you - no breakage or split ends, thanks to nutrition and strengthening of the roots, excessive hair loss stops.
Of course, it is much more beneficial for your health to completely abandon chemical shampoos - they are extremely harmful, but in order to have an incentive and to be convinced of the results that will not wait long, try to start with such a simple improvement and nutrition of the scalp and hair as rinsing with a solution of soap beans as a natural nourishing balm.
Treatment of allergies and skin diseases
In the treatment of various skin diseases It is most effective to use soap beans externally, in combination with soap nuts, as applications, masks and rinses. The approximate ratio of shikakai beans and soap nuts is 2:1, respectively, if the disease is on the surface of the skin, i.e. easily available, and 1:1, if the disease is on the hair part of the head.If the inflammation is not very large in area, you can apply a bandage made of natural fabric (cotton, linen) with soaked beans and nuts wrapped inside, directly on the inflamed area of the skin and hold it for an hour (up to 2 hours), then remove the bandage without washing the skin, just let it dry in the air. Such bandages can be applied to damaged areas of the skin 3 times a day or less often, depending on the severity and nature of the disease. In case of burns, immediately apply a wet, soaked shikakai pod or its paste to the burned area of the skin, hold for 30 minutes, if the redness does not go away during this time, apply a fresh pod for another 30 minutes.
Treatment of allergies:
Allergies are different and of different degrees of severity. Allergy is a peculiar reaction of a contaminated or weakened organism to an external stimulus. Soap beans can effectively fight the consequences of allergies, eliminating reddening of the skin, various rashes, even clearing the skin of rashes, however, to eliminate the allergy, it is necessary to eliminate its main cause.
Allergies caused by chemical agents can be completely cured only by excluding the use of all chemical agents, therefore, in itself, replacing chemistry with natural agents is the most effective treatment not only for allergic reactions, which are only a consequence, but and the very reason that caused the allergy.
And if you have an allergy to cats, then, by and large, soap beans will not help here, they will only eliminate the symptoms, soothing the skin and relieving inflammatory processes, but getting rid of this kind of allergy is a complete cleansing of the entire body from impurities and toxins, after which cat hair or grass pollen will no longer cause problems, as it happens if the body is unable to cope with its functions.
Use in cosmetology
Pods of acacia shikakai, as well as soap nuts, are one of the most common components of Ayurvedic cosmetics. They are used both as an independent remedy and in combination with other medicinal plants.Shikakai beans are included not only in Indian Ayurvedic shampoos, but also in the most elite and expensive European shampoos and hair conditioners. Various moisturizing creams, liquid bath soaps, etc. are made on the basis of extract from shikakai pods.
Because everything ingenious is simple, then, trusting nature, it is best to use shikakai acacia, not as an organic additive to chemistry, but as the main remedy, as wise ancestors have done for centuries, thus extracting the maximum benefit for their skin and hair and not polluting the environment. A soap bean mask is a wonderful, pore-cleansing, moisturizing, refreshing, rejuvenating, wrinkle-removing product. You can grind the beans into a powder in a coffee grinder, dilute with water to the consistency of sour cream, let it infuse for 10-15 minutes, then apply to the skin in circular motions, as if rubbing. Wash off after 30-40 minutes. After such a mask, the skin becomes unusually soft, tender, like a child's, very velvety.
You can not grind the beans, but simply soak 2-3 pods of acacia for several hours (for acceleration - boil), and then carefully rub the resulting concentrated solution into the skin. Wash off after 10-15 minutes. (after complete drying).
You can strengthen and nourish your hair by applying paste made from acacia pods on it for about 2 hours (the amount of paste depends on the length, fatness and general condition of the hair). To do this, you need to grind (if possible into powder) acacia pods, dilute them with water to a creamy state, let this paste stand overnight or at least for a few hours, then apply it evenly on your hair, then leave this paste on your hair for at least two hours, after which you can take a shower and rinse your hair abundantly with running water.
This procedure strengthens and revitalizes hair, gives it a healthy shine and volume, promotes accelerated hair growth and thickening. It is desirable to repeat it at least 1-2 times a month.
