Henna tattooing is an exquisite and inexpensive way to decorate your body for the summer. The tattoo is done quickly and lasts about two weeks.
Originally, the drawings on the skin had a magical content. They indicated belonging to a certain group or served as a body decoration for a special occasion.
Mehendi, the traditional art of henna painting, is an integral part of Indian and North African wedding rituals. Before the wedding, the hands and feet of the bride were painted with beautiful patterns.
Many henna patterns are simple ornaments that can be drawn by hand with some skill.
If you do not decide to get a regular tattoo, but you want to try it, the perfect way to experiment is temporary henna tattoos. Such a drawing is created with the help of a thin brush, henna powder, water and eucalyptus oil.
Henna tattoos are harmless, they stay on the skin for several weeks, and you always have a chance to change or add to the drawing without pain, damage to the skin and large monetary costs. The cost of one tattoo is insignificant, and its cost is at least twice as high as the money you will spend on it. It is possible to say that this is a "profitable business", but for some reason henna tattoos are considered seasonal (summer) "fun". In addition to the fact that a tattoo cannot be seen from under clothing in winter, there are no other arguments for the seasonality of tattoos. They do not wash off and do not stain clothes, they look brighter on the skin without a tan, they are browner in color than a tan after a solarium, so they are more visible.
Unfortunately, henna for hair is not suitable for making such a tattoo.
When buying henna powder, you can smell the packaging. Henna has a slight specific smell.
Henna tattoos are recommended to be performed only with 100% natural henna. Although new means allow you to dramatically increase the number of tattoo options, they can damage the skin due to deeper penetration.
Henna tattoos can be done no earlier than two days after depilation.
If there are hairs in the place where the tattoo was created, they must be shaved. It is impossible to wet the skin. The skin is sprinkled with talcum powder and shaved with a disposable machine.
Prior to tattooing, peeling can be done at the place of the future tattoo. This will allow henna to better absorb into the skin and increase the time of "wearing" of the tattoo.
It is not recommended to rub the tattoo with a washcloth, otherwise it will come off quickly. In order to make a temporary henna tattoo, you will need:
1) henna,
2) eucalyptus oil,
3) warm water,
4) a brush or a specially prepared cone (tube) for henna,
5) a stack or a special small glass container,
6) a stick for mixing henna (preferably made of glass),
7) a contour (chemical) pencil,
8) tracing paper "for a pencil" (not for mascara),
9) a catalog of tattoo sketches or a picture drawn by you on paper,
10) alcohol or another degreasing compound that is not harmful to the skin,
11) a peeling agent.
Performing a tattoo
Degrease the skin with alcohol. For this, you can prepare a cotton swab or just a piece of cotton wool.
Choose a drawing for a tattoo, attach a tracing paper to it and transfer the drawing to the tracing paper with a contour pencil.
Wet the skin with water. Attach the pattern to the skin, press firmly. After this, a pattern will remain on the skin.
Henna is diluted 1:4 with water (1 part henna: 4 parts water). Mix henna with water until smooth. Depending on the amount of henna, add 1 to 5 drops of eucalyptus oil to the mixture (less is better). Mix thoroughly again. The composition is ready.

Take a very thin brush, preferably so that the hairs do not fall out of it. Using a brush, apply henna along the contour of the drawing, moving from top to bottom, gradually filling the entire surface of the drawing. The layer of henna should be thick.
The exposure time is from 15 to 30 minutes. The tattoo is ready when an openwork film forms on the skin. Carefully remove the henna film, use a cotton swab to apply eucalyptus oil to the surface of the tattoo with blotting movements.
For 24 hours after the tattoo is created, it cannot be wet.
Henna stains the upper layer of skin cells, and the skin is constantly renewed. When the tattoo comes off, you can make another one in its place.
