Shilajit, or mummy, is a product of the sweating of rocks on the surface of rocks under the influence of sunlight. A mummy is formed if deposits of gold or other metals rest in the bowels of the mountain. It is soft like clay and looks like shellac. There are two types of shilajit - Gomutra shilajit (not very pleasant smelling) and Karpura shilajit (smelling of camphor). Gomutra shilajit is divided into two types - one that has a subtle essence in its composition, and one that does not. The best of the two is considered to have a fine essence.
Mountains heated by the sun emanate from Shilajit, which contain gold, silver, copper, iron, tin or lead. The best mummy appears above iron ore. Shilajit, appearing over gold, silver, copper and iron veins, is best suited for balancing the joint imbalances of Vata and Pitta dosha, Pitta and Kapha dosha, Kapha dosha or joint imbalance of the three doshas respectively. To rejuvenate the body, it is better to use the mummy that appears above the iron ore. Shilajit, born of gold, sweet, slightly bitter, red like barley, with a shade of red ocher, hard and cool. It cools the body, sharp and bitter after digestion, balances the joint increase of Vata and Pitta dosha. Shilajit, born of silver, hard, white, like an echo or a mollusk shell. To the taste, it is soapy, like alkali, sharp, sour and sweet, it is difficult to digest, causes belching and a feeling of heat in the chest. It treats all diseases caused by an imbalance of Pitta dosha, especially anemia and jaundice, as well as spermatorrhea, accumulation of mucus, fever, tuberculosis, splenomegaly and diseases caused by an increase in Vata dosha. Shilajit, born of copper, in color resembles the neck of a peacock or the feathers of a papaya bird. It is bitter, sharp, a good stimulant, reduces body weight. The mummy, born of iron, looks like the resin of balsam dendron milky, it is bitter and salty, and after digestion it becomes sharp and cold. It is a preventive and healing agent for numerous ailments and has the ability to balance all three doshas. This is the best among all types of mummy. Shilajit, born of tin, slightly bitter, sharp, dense, resembles clay, color and smell resemble tin. It quickly cures dropsy, gonorrhea, fever, tuberculosis and erysipelas. Shilajit, born of lead, soft, bitter, sharp after digestion, multi-colored, good stimulant, gives a good color to the face, and to those who take it regularly, gives strength to the body and increases vitality. Shilajit, smelling of camphor, appears in the form of grains resembling sand, pale yellow in color. It is very effective for fractures, gout, calculi, spermatorrhea, gonorrhea, jaundice and anemia. The cleansing process consists in dissolving and boiling shilajit with a decoction of green cardamom. Sages did not consider it necessary to burn this type of shilajit and extract Sattva from it. Genuine shilajit burns without smoke, after its combustion, an iron scale is formed, and what is thrown into the water sinks to the bottom, like threads. Shilajit is not acidic and not astringent, sharp after digestion, enhances the qualities of the substance to which it is added, stops decay and heals damaged tissues, does not heat or cool the body, cleanses the body of excess mucus and toxins. Treats accumulation of sputum, tremors of the limbs, diabetes mellitus, fractures, discharge from the urethra (in particular, gonorrhea), exhaustion, asthma, hemorrhoids caused by an imbalance of Vata dosha, depression, hysteria, nausea, leprosy, worm infestations, fever, jaundice, dropsy, spermatorrhoea, loss of appetite, obesity, consumption, colic, tumors, localized along the course of the intestines, splenomegaly, diseases of the pancreas, pain in the heart, dysentery and all skin diseases. It is widely used not only in medicine, but also in alchemy. To clean the shilajit, it is cut into pieces, washed with clean water to remove dirt, fumigated with the smoke of a mixture of Aquilaria agallochha wood, leaves of Indian azadirachta, heart-leaved Tinosphora, Indian cajanus, barley and ghee, and immersed for three hours in hot water or in a decoction of dasamula or triphala. After three hours, the mummy is crushed and filtered through a cloth, the filtrate is poured into a clay pot and placed in the sun. A dense, cream-like substance that appears on the surface is collected and placed in the second pot. The process is repeated several times, until all the clean mummy is collected. The sediment is again rubbed with hot water, exposed to the sun, and pure mummy is separated from the solution, as described earlier. Pure mummy can be released in this way for two months. Purified in this way, shilajit can be used for medicinal purposes. Pure shilajit, thrown into the fire, becomes iridescent and burns without smoke. To increase the healing properties of shilajit, it can be subjected to the process of processing[1][1] with the juice or decoction of medicinal plants that balance the doshas[2][2]. Another process of cleansing Shilajit. First, the shilajit is washed with water and dried, after that it is treated with the juice or decoction of plants selected in accordance with the disease of the person (for whom the mummy is prepared), his life and dietary habits. To prepare the decoction, the selected plants are taken in such an amount that the mass of the mixture corresponds to the mass of the processed shilajit, and they are boiled in a clay pot with eight parts of water until three parts of the water evaporates, the shilajit is dissolved in this hot decoction, and the precipitate is filtered through a cloth and dried. The procedure is repeated seven times. Purified in this way, shilajit is given to the patient only after a three-day internal anointing of the body, taking a laxative and a subsequent three-day intake of medicated ghee boiled with bitter herbs. On the first day, the patient drinks shilajit with a decoction of Triphala, on the second - with the juice of Trichosanthes dicotyledons, and on the third - with a decoction of licorice root. In the future, this scheme is repeated until there is a need to take shilajit. This is a fairly common and useful way of taking this drug.
