Shiva (Sanskrit, iva IAST, "benevolent", "merciful") is a Hindu deity, the supreme god in Shaivism, together with Brahma and Vishnu is part of the divine triad Trimurta. The origins of the Shiva cult go back to the pre-Vedic and Vedic periods.
Christianity is based on the belief in the Holy Trinity - God the Father, God the Son and the Holy Spirit. There is also a holy trinity in India. This Trimurti is the divine triad of Brahma-Vishnu-Shiva, perceived as a unity. Brahma is considered the main creator of the world, Vishnu is the keeper of ego and Shiva is the destroyer. In the sculptural images, members of the Trimurta either stand next to each other or seem to grow out of each other. But these gods are also recognized as independent.
Shiva is especially famous for his dance. According to legends, he once conquered 10 thousand enemy miracle workers while dancing. At first they tried to resist him and created a ferocious tiger, but Shiva tore off the skin from the animal that rushed at him and made a cape from it, they sent a snake over him, but Shiva put it on his neck like a necklace... To many, he seems terrible, since his function includes the destruction of the world at the end of each epoch-kalpa. But this is not a simple destruction, but one that leads to the creation of something more perfect (remember the Phoenix bird, which burned in flames to be born again even more beautiful). When Brahma and Vishnu began to argue about which of them is more important for the world, a pillar of fire without end and edge, created by Shiva, arose. Brahma, trying to reach the top of his ego, flew into the sky in the form of a goose, Vishnu in the form of a boar descended to the ground, but both did not reach the goal and recognized Shiva as the greatest of the gods.
