General characteristics
Trikatu churn is the most surprising of the rasayans. Its peculiarity lies in the fact that it is the only rasayana, with the application of which the Kapha dosha does not increase, but on the contrary, decreases, and significantly so. Most rasayans increase Kapha dosha, and Trikatu cleanses the body of excess Kapha and normalizes water exchange in the human body. This explains its use in the treatment of colds and, in general, Kapha dosha imbalances. The composition includes equal proportions of ginger, black pepper, and long pepper.
Indications
Trikatu is used in cases of decreased Pitta dosha and increased Kapha dosha. It dries up mucus, removes puffiness, helps regulate body weight, reduces the effects of stress and psychological trauma, is used for depression, treats colds, dyspepsia disorders, bad breath from food stagnation in the stomach. In winter, late autumn and early spring, a single daily intake of the drug is recommended.
Contraindications
Taking Trikat is categorically contraindicated in diseases that occur with increased Pitta dosha - gastritis with increased acidity, skin diseases, fever.
Medical use
Vagbhata describes the medical use of Trikat in this way: "These three (Marychi, Pippaly and Shunty) are collectively known as Trikatu, which treats obesity, shortness of breath and breathing difficulties, dyspepsia, cough, worm infestations, as well as chronic catarrhal rhinitis. (Ashtanga Hridayam 1.6.164). Trikata can also be used as an appetite stimulant.
Recommendations for use
Trikata is recommended to be taken 7-15 minutes before a meal, moistened with three drops of lemon in the amount of the drug, which will make a pill the size of a mung dal (masha) grain, three times a day. For colds, it is possible to take it between meals.
